FAR Law is a solo practice built on clear communication, careful listening, and practical guidance. The focus is on helping clients understand their options, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence.
Fernando Ruiz founded FAR Law after a long career that spans military service, engineering roles, and more than three decades of in‑house corporate legal work.
He began his professional life as a Navy Surface Warfare Officer, serving five years on active duty at sea. He continued his service for twenty‑five years in the Navy Reserve, holding multiple unit command assignments and concluding his career as the Navy Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer for the State of Indiana. He retired as a Navy Captain.
After active duty, Fernando joined GE Aerospace as an engineer and later transitioned into legal roles within GE. Over the next fifteen years, he served in in‑house positions at GE Aircraft Engines and GE Motors, managing commercial, compliance, governance, and intellectual‑property matters.
He then joined Regal Beloit Corporation (now Regal Rexnord), where he served for nearly two decades in senior legal roles, including as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. In that capacity, he served as the lead legal counsel for several global business units.
This sequence of military service, engineering experience, diverse in‑house corporate legal roles, and executive legal leadership informs the practice’s approach.
